LA Cares – Aid for Needy

LA Cares is a small, independent organization, providing help to the needy of Los Alamos County.  Financial aid, usually with rent or utility payments, is available once in a 12-month period.

LA Cares also offers supplemental food assistance, with distributions on the second Thursday and Friday of every month at Bethlehem Evangelical Lutheran Church (2390 North Road). To receive a food box, one must register (in advance) by the Sunday before the distribution.

For either food or financial assistance, call 661-8015 at any time.

Thursday distributions: 6:30pm-7:30pm

Friday distributions: 10:30 am to 12:30pm.

Phone messages are checked m-f. Required information is identified on the answering machine: one must provide name, address, telephone number, number in family, special food needs (and/or food allergies) and need for pet food or baby items.  Fresh produce, limited baked goods and frozen meats, and miscellaneous non-perishables (such as cake mixes and salad dressing) are available at the distribution in addition to the prepared box.

Non-perishable food contributions for LA Cares can be made through FUMC on the first Sunday of the month when you see the shopping cart in the foyer of the church.
